Some people are also very concerned with what other people think of the GD and how it reflects on them, their taste or the validity of their opinion - like it is a competitive sport or some such analytical activity. Night and day from where I stand.

That is the very last thing I was ever concerned with, in my GD world it was all about me! I never "brought" anyone else to a show expecting them to get it. I knew in advance if someone would get it, or not. Actually the only person I brought to a show had already seen one 10 years to the day before I started dating her. And she got it big time...30+ years later we're still getting it. I actually started the relationship by explaining that I had an obsession that was not going to change, she said that was just fine with her. She tolerates my 2 or 3 GD like bands that I play in, if I played other rock music it would not be tolerated. I love the GD thing as much now as ever. It is not Fading away.
